Senior Design Technologist
Ink is the Amazon Business design system that supports the unique needs of business customers and their procurement goals. Ink provides designers, writers, and engineers with reusable, accessible components and patterns that enable high-quality, cohesive, and scalable experiences across Amazon Business. By leveraging Ink, teams reduce delivery time and are better equipped to deliver consistent, bar-raising customer experiences. As Amazon Business accelerates its adoption of AI-assisted design and agentic workflows, Ink is playing a critical, strategic role—one that defines quality, enables scale, and operationalizes AI in a system-compliant, customer-obsessed way. This role is foundational to that evolution.
About This Role
The Senior Design Technologist on the Ink Team sits at the intersection of design systems, front-end architecture, and AI-assisted tooling. This role is responsible for transforming AI-assisted design from a collection of experiments into a scalable, supported, system-integrated workflow across Amazon Business. You will partner deeply with designers, engineers, and AI platform teams to ensure that emerging tools produce Ink-compliant, accessible, and production-ready outputs.
About You
You'll be equal parts inventor and catalyst—pushing the boundaries of what's possible while reimagining our design-to-development workflow to eliminate bottlenecks and accelerate innovation. As a Senior UX Design Technologist, you will...
- Enable AI-Ready Design Systems
- Lead the re-architecture of Ink's Figma libraries to make them AI-ready, system-intelligent, and compatible with agentic-assisted design workflows
- Ensure design libraries, tokens, and component structures can be reliably consumed by downstream AI tooling
- Define best practices for structuring design assets to support prompt-based and generative workflows
- Bridge Design, Engineering, and AI Tooling
- Act as the connective tissue between design, front-end engineering, and AI platform teams
- Ensure AI-assisted design outputs are system-compliant, accessible, and feasible to implement in InkReact
- Partner with engineers to close the gap between generative design output and production-ready UI
- Evaluate and Operationalize AI-Assisted Design Tools
- Lead Ink's evaluation, onboarding, and integration of tools such as Figma Make and prompt-to-design workflows
- Define criteria for adoption, guardrails for usage, and system-level integration paths
- Move AI design enablement from reactive experimentation to intentional, supported capability
- Accelerate Adoption Without Compromising Quality
- Meet designers where they work by embedding design system guidance directly into design tooling and workflows
- Reduce friction to adoption while preventing long-term system debt
- Ensure AI-assisted design accelerates delivery without sacrificing accessibility, consistency, or customer trust
Key job responsibilities:
- Experience integrating or evaluating AI-assisted design tools, generative workflows, or agentic systems
- Familiarity with accessibility standards and building inclusive systems at scale
- Experience working on or with large-scale design systems used by dozens of teams
- Ability to translate technical constraints into clear guidance for designers and vice versa
- Strong communication skills and a bias toward action and experimentation
