Product Managers are the builders in Amazon. They own developing new features, tools, processes, and businesses for our customers, and scaling them to serve hundreds of millions of customers. PMs are focused on understanding the needs (stated or unstated) of customers, sellers, and our business and coming up with creative solutions to serve these needs. Think of any feature on Amazon that you like e.g. 'Secured Delivery', 'Prime', 'Easy Returns' - all these were built by product managers.
Amazon's vision is to be 'earth's most customer centric company' and being able to return products is an important trust-builder. However, it is also a costly process to execute, and with the added challenge of bad actors abusing the returns and rejects policies, it becomes an area of high judgment decisions and careful experimentations.
