Mainframe Assembler Developer
We are looking for an experienced Mainframe Assembler Developer with strong hands-on expertise in IBM z/OS Assembler (HLASM) to work on mission-critical legacy systems. The role involves analysis, development, debugging, production support, and modernization of Assembler-driven batch and online applications in large enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze, develop, enhance, and maintain HLASM (Assembler) programs
- Debug and resolve production issues using TSO/ISPF, system dumps, and abend analysis
- Perform impact analysis and documentation for Assembler modules
- Support L3 production issues related to Assembler code
- Participate in modernization and migration programs, converting Assembler logic to COBOL or C where required
- Implement regulatory and business-driven changes in Assembler-based batch logic
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and mentor junior developers
Required Skills:
- IBM z/OS Assembler (HLASM) – strong hands-on experience
- TSO/ISPF, JCL, VSAM
- Debugging using abend codes and system dumps
- Good understanding of registers, memory addressing, macros, and control flow
Good to Have skills:
- COBOL, DB2, CICS, REXX
- Experience with mainframe modernization or migration initiatives
- Exposure to BFSI / Insurance / Financial Services systems
Experience: 4–7 years of experience working on Assembler-heavy mainframe applications
Educational Qualification: 15 years full time education
