Architectural Designer II

The Architectural Designer II supports the development and delivery of design concepts and technical documentation across all project phases under the guidance of senior staff. This role contributes to a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team, ensuring design solutions are well-coordinated, technically sound, and aligned with project goals, budgets, and schedules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed building models and produce comprehensive construction documents across all project phases
  • Coordinate technical design efforts with internal teams and external consultants to ensure integrated solutions
  • Assist in the preparation and coordination of project specifications with construction documents
  • Review reports, drawings, submittals, estimates, and calculations for accuracy, completeness, and consistency
  • Participate in site visits and project meetings to support construction activities and resolve field issues
  • Communicate regularly with project teams to ensure timely completion of deliverables and project milestones
  • Utilize design software (Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, BSD SpecLink, etc.) for both production and presentation
  • Support adoption of best practices in design technology across project teams
  • Collaborate with architects, designers, engineers, and consultants to ensure coordinated project delivery
  • Apply knowledge of building codes, sustainability, and current industry trends to technical documentation

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of architectural experience
  • Completion of Architectural Experience Program (AXP) and Architectural Registration Exams (AREs) preferred or in progress
  • Strong understanding of architectural design, construction documentation, and material applications
  • Knowledge of building systems and their integration into construction documents
  • Ability to research, interpret, and apply building codes effectively
  • Experience with QA/QC processes in architectural projects
  • Proven ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
  • Proficiency in Revit for modeling and documentation
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD for drafting
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with sustainability principles and evolving industry trends
  • Experience producing construction documents in Revit and AutoCAD
  • Exposure to Microsoft Project, SharePoint, and Teams
  • Working knowledge of SketchUp for 3D modeling
  • Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop and InDesign for presentations
  • Experience with BSD SpecLink for specification development
  • Strong interest in diverse project types and growing responsibilities
  • Motivation to develop into a project management role over time

Work Environment

This position operates within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary studio that emphasizes mentorship, technical excellence, and professional growth. The team utilizes industry-standard tools including Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, BSD SpecLink, and Microsoft Office, along with collaboration platforms such as SharePoint and Teams. The role offers a hybrid schedule, including half-day Fridays from home and work-from-home every other Monday, balancing flexibility with in-office collaboration.

Job Type & Location: This is a Permanent position based out of Charlotte, NC.

Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $100000.00/yr. 401K Medical Dental Vision
