Intermediate Architectural Designer

We are seeking an Intermediate Architectural Designer to join a collaborative design team working on multifamily residential and mixed-use housing projects. This role is ideal for a well-rounded designer with experience contributing across all project phases, strong technical skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Project Manager or Project Architect to plan project layouts, including determining functional and spatial requirements.
  • Assist in developing design concepts and preparing materials related to design, specifications, finishes, and building systems.
  • Prepare and develop project drawings and construction documents using Revit.
  • Support the project team during the construction administration phase, including submittal reviews, ASIs, and responses to RFIs.
  • Create 3D models and visualizations using SketchUp or similar modeling software.
  • Assist with project presentations, renderings, and presentation materials for internal and external reviews.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary team members to ensure design intent, quality, and schedule alignment.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture.
  • 4–8 years of professional experience in architectural design.
  • Experience working on multifamily residential, housing, or mixed-use projects.
  • Ability to initiate and develop design studies through multiple phases of a project.
  • Strong design sensibility, graphic skills, and the ability to communicate ideas clearly.
  • Proficiency in Revit is required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Rhino, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office preferred.
  • Commercial project experience is beneficial.
  • 5-10 years of experience in related fields.
  • Revit proficiency in producing construction documents, including exterior wall detailing.
  • Registered architect preferred, but not required.

Work Environment

Currently, the team is working on a hybrid schedule with a preference for in-office presence. The office environment is collaborative, with in-house engineering teams facilitating seamless coordination. This unique culture fosters a shared goal and relationship with the design process.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Washington, DC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
