Automation Designer

The Automation Designer will utilize a comprehensive knowledge of design and drafting techniques, engineering drawing, CAD/graphics, and reading of drawings. The role involves developing concepts, completing designs, structures, and plant arrangements while working both independently and collaboratively within a team.

100% Requirements (Non-Negotiables)

• 5+ years experience in custom automation design for manufacturing applications
• Experienced with Solidworks
• Experience in working with multiple discipline projects
• Passionate about coaching and developing other designers
• Experienced designing custom solutions from conception phase for clients (as opposed to working off templates)

Responsibilities

• Create models and drawings of products using specialized software such as Key Creator, SolidWorks, and UG.
• Research new materials and methods of development.
• Collect, read, interpret, and use related reference documents and drawings prepared by other disciplines, vendors, or outside sources.
• Ensure compliance with approved design standards to provide quality design, safety, constructability, reliable operation, construction economy, and operating convenience.
• Review and check calculations, design models, drawings, and design documents for quality, accuracy, neatness, functionality, and satisfactory completion.
• Assist others with assembling bid, approval, and construction issue drawing packages.
• Organize and maintain existing engineering records.
• Perform physical testing on engineering prototypes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Knowledge of metal fabrication processes preferred
• Experience with current cutting/weld tool technology

Work Environment

This position requires working onsite with standard office hours and no travel. You will report directly to the Automation Manager and collaborate with a team of over five experienced designers. The company has a longstanding history of over 50 years, with new management focusing on growth and scaling within the Automation Department.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr.
