Automation Designer

The Automation Designer requires a sound comprehensive knowledge of design and drafting techniques, engineering drawing, CAD/graphics, and the ability to read drawings. This role involves developing concepts, completing designs, and structuring plant arrangements while working independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities:

• Use specialized software, including Key Creator, SolidWorks, and UG, to create models and drawings of products.
• Research new materials and methods of development.
• Collect, read, interpret, and use related reference documents and drawings prepared by other disciplines, vendors, or outside sources.
• Ensure compliance with approved design standards to provide quality design, safety, constructability, reliable operation, construction economy, and operating convenience.
• Review and check calculations, design models, drawings, and design documents for quality, accuracy, neatness, functionality, and satisfactory completion.
• Assist others with assembling bid, approval, and construction issue drawing packages.
• Organize and maintain existing engineering records.
• Perform physical testing on engineering prototypes.

Essential Skills:

• 5+ years experience in custom automation design for manufacturing applications.
• Experience in working with multidisciplinary projects.
• Experience designing custom solutions from the conception phase for clients.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience with SolidWorks.
• Knowledge of metal fabrication processes preferred.
• Experience with current cutting/weld tool technology.
• Passionate about coaching and developing other designers.
• Experience designing equipment for the food and beverage industry.

Work Environment:

This role requires standard office hours onsite with no travel. The individual will report directly to the Automation Manager and work alongside a team of over five tenured designers. The company has been operating for over 50 years and is currently experiencing growth within the Automation Department, with new management focused on scaling the business.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of London, ON.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in London, ON.
