CAD Designer

We are seeking a dedicated CAD Designer to primarily detail piping system designs using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office products. The role involves upgrading 2D drawings to 3D models in accordance with company standards and creating detailed 3D models for piping, structural, or hull designs. The designer will be responsible for creating and updating construction and shop drawings and bills for production. Additionally, the role includes revising linework, references, notes, and callouts based on redline markups. The position is office-based, requiring daily use of computer drafting technology and electronic communication.

Responsibilities

• Detail piping system designs using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
• Upgrade 2D drawings to 3D models per company standards.
• Create 3D models for piping, structural, or hull designs.
• Create and update construction and shop drawings and bills for production.
• Revise linework, references, notes, and callouts based on redline markups.
• Coordinate with peers to design, layout, or detail complex components and resolve design issues.
• Gather information from contract specifications, previous projects, and production capabilities to produce detailed designs.
• Occasionally visit production areas to troubleshoot construction problems and offer solutions.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and similar CAD software.
• Experience in CAD layout, piping systems, and large industrial layouts.
• Experience in Mechanical Engineering or a similar engineering degree is preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in CAD preferred or a 4-year degree in Engineering with a focus on design.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other Microsoft products.
• Ability to read and understand structural documentation such as blueprints.
• Experience with AutoCAD 2023 and 3D software.
• Capability to complete high-paced assignments through effective prioritization, scheduling, planning, and execution.

Work Environment

The position is based in an office environment, involving collaboration with a close-knit team of four designers and a Design Supervisor. The role may occasionally require visits to the production floor to address and resolve design challenges.

This is a Permanent position based out of Pleasant View, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $38.00/hr.
