Designer
This position is integral to the substation department, where you will develop construction drawings for substations in collaboration with higher-level designers and engineers. You will be part of a team that supports critical engineering initiatives, advancing how companies serve the world.
Responsibilities
- Create 3-D models of electrical substation features and components, such as transformers and circuit breakers, using MicroStation with the guidance of senior designers.
- Develop layout of parts and assemblies in both 2-D and 3-D drawings.
- Modify or update existing models, assemblies, and layouts to reflect changes in design.
- Adhere to part naming and numbering conventions as well as file management protocols.
- Create or modify physical drawings, including single-line diagrams, station location plans, electrical assemblies, cable and conduit plans, cable schedules, grounding plans, duct bank designs, and layouts.
- Ensure drawings provide sufficient detail and information for the construction of electrical substations, with guidance from senior designers and engineers.
- Utilize ProjectWise for project documentation to track all design modifications and new designs with assistance from senior designers.
- Work under the supervision of higher-level designers and engineers.
Essential Skills
- Experience in designing physical layouts, equipment layouts, plan views, elevation views, section views, and creating detailed bills of material.
- Proficiency in 3D design using AutoCAD Inventor.
- Knowledge in substation, physical, utility, grounding, lightning protection, one-line diagrams, and substation engineering.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Associate degree in applied science (AAS) in drafting and computer-aided (CAD) design or in civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering technology, or equivalent experience and/or education.
- Zero to five years of relevant experience in the field.

The work takes place in a quiet engineering office environment with a business casual dress code. Teamwork is highly encouraged and frequently practiced.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $27.00/hr.
