Field Distribution Specialist (DOT)

We are seeking a Field Distribution Specialist (DOT) to support high-profile utility relocation and infrastructure projects. This role focuses on electric distribution design tied to Department of Transportation initiatives such as road widening, relocations, and public infrastructure upgrades.

Responsibilities include leading design efforts, interpreting DOT plans, performing field assessments, and developing construction packages. The role also serves as a liaison between utilities, DOT agencies, and contractors to ensure projects are delivered on time and in compliance with NESC and DOT standards.

This position requires a strong combination of technical expertise, project coordination, and stakeholder management. Travel within the region is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and coordination of electric distribution projects associated with DOT initiatives
  • Interpret DOT plans, civil drawings, and right-of-way (ROW) maps to develop effective design solutions
  • Perform field assessments and develop comprehensive construction packages
  • Act as the primary liaison between utilities, DOT agencies, customers, and contractors
  • Ensure all projects meet NESC, DOT regulations, and safety standards
  • Oversee projects ranging from railroad crossings and road widening to bridge and infrastructure expansions
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining timelines and quality standards

Skills:

  • ArcGIS
  • AutoCAD
  • DOT project experience
  • Electric distribution design
  • Knowledge of NESC standards
  • Utility relocation expertise
  • Compliance and safety regulation experience

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of distribution design experience
  • Experience in DOT or public infrastructure coordination
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • Advanced knowledge of distribution systems and relocation processes
  • Ability to interpret civil engineering drawings and ROW maps
  • Strong communication and project management abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Experience with Pole loading analysis, SPIDA Calc, pole foreman

Work Environment:

This role requires occasional travel throughout the state to support project needs.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Covington, GA.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
