Distribution Designer
As a Distribution Designer, you will be responsible for developing design and construction work packages for electrical overhead distribution systems. You will review work provided by clients and assess scope requirements, conduct field work involving photos and measurements of specific sites or circuits, and create designs using the Open Utilities CAD system. Your role will involve performing energy analysis to ensure material selection meets site requirements and creating bills of materials (BOM) using SAP/Material Tracking Software.
Responsibilities
- Develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead distribution systems.
- Review work provided by clients and assess scope requirements.
- Conduct field work involving photos and measurements of specific sites or circuits.
- Create designs using Open Utilities CAD system.
- Perform energy analysis to ensure material selection meets site requirements.
- Create bills of materials (BOM) using SAP/Material Tracking Software.
- Assist with obtaining necessary permits for utility lines.
- Complete and submit electrical construction packages for approval.
- Use software like Poleforman or PLA/Pole Loading Analysis for structural analysis of wood poles.
- Ensure compliance with National Electric Safety Codes (NESC) in designs and material selection.
- Collaborate with Quality Control approvers for necessary revisions.
- Communicate frequently with clients via email, phone, and in person.
Essential Skills
- 4+ years of experience in Distribution Design (Low Voltage Design).
- Proficiency in using software such as AutoCAD, PoleForman, DDS, and MicroStation.
- Knowledge of power distribution and utility design.
- Familiarity with National Electric Safety Codes (NESC).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Power delivery and Distribution design.
Work Environment
The work environment is hybrid, including office, field, and home settings. The position is based in Pittsburgh, PA, within the Energy group, which is a decent size with a focus on Electrical design. The role supports a large utility in Western PA and involves collaboration with a growing team.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $31.00 - $41.00/hr.
