Distribution Designer
We are seeking a dedicated Distribution Designer to perform detailed design work, including the preparation of drawings, specifications, and estimates for review and approval by the responsible engineer.
Responsibilities
- Develop a thorough understanding of technical practices and procedures in areas such as Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation and Control, Protective Relaying, Transmission Design, Substation Design, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Distribution Engineering, Surveying, GIS and Mapping, and CADD.
- Prepare manual or computer-assisted design and construction drawings of a complex nature with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Perform design services with a comprehensive understanding of drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
- Participate in the preparation of cost estimates, specifications, evaluations, and requisitions.
- Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations.
- Coordinate equipment deliveries and design development to align with project schedules.
- Collect on-site field data to facilitate design or monitor and evaluate equipment performance.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD
- Experience in utility design and electrical design
- Knowledge of distribution engineering, civil engineering, and substation design
- Familiarity with transmission design, mechanical design, and surveying
- Skills in protective relaying and instrumentation controls
- Experience with GIS and CADD
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Associate Degree or equivalent in a technical field preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience required without a degree
- Demonstrated leadership and technical capability
Work Environment
This position is primarily in-office with the opportunity for flexible hours once training is completed. There is also the possibility to work from home two days a week, at the discretion of the management.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Gahanna, Ohio.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr.
