As a Distribution Designer, you'll play a key role in delivering safe, reliable, and cost‑effective electrical infrastructure.

  • Create high‑quality manual and computer‑assisted design and construction drawings with a strong focus on accuracy and constructability
  • Apply industry standards, company design practices, and engineering specifications to complex utility design work
  • Support the preparation of cost estimates, specifications, material requisitions, and technical documentation
  • Assist with engineering calculations and technical evaluations that inform sound design decisions
  • Coordinate design activities and equipment deliveries to support project schedules and milestones
  • Collect and interpret on‑site field data, including measurements and existing conditions
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, field crews, and other stakeholders to resolve design issues
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and quality standards
  • Take ownership of assigned work while demonstrating leadership and accountability appropriate to your level

What You Bring

You bring a strong technical foundation, curiosity, and confidence working independently while staying connected to a team.

  • Solid knowledge of technical practices in one or more areas:
  • Distribution or transmission design

  • Protective relaying, I&C, surveying
  • GIS, mapping, and CADD
  • Proficiency with CAD/CADD tools and experience producing construction drawings
  • Experience working from drawings, specifications, and engineering standards
  • Familiarity with GIS and mapping tools related to utility or infrastructure projects
  • Ability to gather and apply field data to support accurate designs
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time‑management skills
  • Comfort managing multiple tasks with minimal supervision

Qualifications (Flexible by Level)

We'll consider candidates for the appropriate designer level based on experience and demonstrated capability.

Distribution Designer – Associate

  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • At least 1 year of successful experience as a Designer I / Associate Designer
  • Associate degree (or equivalent) in a technical field preferred

Relevant experience may include drafting, field engineering, GIS, distribution or transmission design, substation design, civil or mechanical design, surveying, protective relaying, or instrumentation and controls.

Work Environment & Flexibility

  • Primarily office‑based using modern engineering design tools (CAD/CADD, GIS)
  • Flexible work hours available after training, based on business needs
  • Hybrid work option: up to 2 days per week remote after training, depending on performance
  • Occasional field site visits to support design accuracy and construction readiness
  • Professional, collaborative environment that values safety, quality, and teamwork

Why This Role

  • Work on critical infrastructure projects that directly impact communities
  • Gain exposure across multiple utility disciplines
  • Clear opportunity for career progression and skill development
