Distribution Designer

We are seeking a skilled Distribution Designer to create overhead and underground electric distribution designs for new construction, rebuilds, relocations, and system upgrades. This role involves applying relevant codes, standards, and utility construction practices to all assigned work orders. You will develop comprehensive design packages including plan and profile drawings, staking sheets, material lists, and construction details. The position requires performing distribution system calculations such as equipment sizing, load calculations, and pole loading analysis. Proficiency in using DDS and Katapult for designs is necessary, along with managing materials and workflows.

Responsibilities

• Create overhead and underground electric distribution designs for various projects.
• Apply applicable codes, standards, and utility construction practices.
• Develop design packages including plan and profile drawings, staking sheets, material lists, and construction details.
• Perform distribution system calculations such as equipment sizing, load calculations, and pole loading analysis.
• Utilize DDS and Katapult for design purposes.
• Manage materials and workflows effectively.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in distribution design, AutoCAD, and Microstation.
• Experience in power distribution, electrical design, power delivery, utility design, and distribution engineering.
• Competence in CAD software.
• 3+ years of distribution design experience.
• Experience using workflow management systems or software.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or higher.
• Ability to field projects if and when needed.

Work Environment

The position offers a hybrid work schedule, requiring in-office presence three days per week. You will be part of a collaborative team supporting one of the region's largest investor-owned utilities. The role provides an opportunity to work with an established engineering design firm that continues to expand its reach with more investor-owned utilities.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pittsburgh, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
