Drafter/Designer

Join our dynamic team as a Drafter/Designer, where you will work closely with the Lead Project Engineer and other project team members to bring new product ideas to life. Utilize advanced 3D tools to digitally prototype and develop detailed design models, focusing on core manufacturing capabilities. Your role will involve transforming concepts, sketches, or previous designs into detailed drawings and ensuring designs are manufacturable.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Lead Project Engineer to transform new product ideas into prototype or pilot designs.
  • Use 3D tools for digital prototyping.
  • Develop 3D design models based on concepts, sketches, or previous designs.
  • Conceptualize sheet metal designs using 2D or 3D tools, ensuring proper tolerancing.
  • Propose assembly or fabrication techniques and develop the product's mechanical and physical attributes.
  • Present or co-present model designs for technical or design reviews.
  • Prepare comprehensive document packages for manufacturing release, including assembly drawings, Bills-of-materials, and machine files.

Essential Skills:

  • Proficiency in design, 3D modeling, and CAD software.
  • Experience in the electrical-mechanical products space for over 3 years.
  • Expertise in both 2D and 3D modeling software.
  • Experience with 3D CAD, Creo, or SolidWorks/Inventor.
  • Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint and Excel.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience designing to UL, CSA, NEC, and other safety agency requirements.
  • BS in Engineering or Computer Aided Design (CAD) preferred; Associate Degree in Engineering or CAD.
  • Experience with machine tool programming.
  • Experience working with sheet metal.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cleveland, OH.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $36.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
