Utility Designer

Seeking a Utility Designer to join our team. The work will be completed within the Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) service territories in Wisconsin and will consist of design services on electric utility design projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in the utility industry, with a focus on design, construction, and GPS survey equipment, however candidates with any technical education or work experience will be considered and in-the-job training will be provided.

Responsibilities:

• Design and draft utility layouts and specifications for gas and electric distribution.
• Conduct site visits to assess project requirements and gather relevant data
• Collaborate with project teams to maintain compliance with utility standards and regulations.
• Utilize design software to create detailed project drawings.
• Use GPS survey equipment to gather and analyze site data for utility design projects.
• Assist in the coordination and implementation of utility construction projects.
• Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and team members.

Qualifications:

• Associate's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience in the utility industry.
• Previous experience with overhead and/or underground electric distribution.
• Proficiency in design software.
• Familiarity with GPS survey equipment is a plus.
• Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and insurance for performing site visits.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and accuracy.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
• Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies and processes.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wausau, WI.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $35.00/hr.
