Drafter / Designer

This role focuses on developing, updating, and maintaining accurate facility as-built drawings in support of a busy facilities team within an industrial manufacturing environment. The Drafter / Designer performs on-site field verification, takes precise measurements, and documents existing conditions to ensure facility drawings reflect real-world layouts and infrastructure.

This position requires a hands-on, detail-oriented professional comfortable working in active industrial settings and collaborating with facilities and engineering teams to support space planning, facility modifications, maintenance planning, and capital improvement projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop, update, and maintain accurate facility as-built drawings using AutoCAD.
• Perform on-site field verification of buildings, utilities, equipment layouts, and infrastructure.
• Take precise field measurements and document existing conditions.
• Translate field notes and sketches into clear, accurate CAD drawings.
• Verify existing drawings against site conditions and document discrepancies.
• Support facilities and engineering teams with documentation for planning and projects.
• Maintain organized drawing files, including layering standards and revision control.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure drawing accuracy and completeness.
• Apply drafting standards and best practices to produce clear, buildable drawings.
• Lay out assemblies, sub-assemblies, and fabrication details accurately.
• Incorporate weld symbols and basic electrical design elements (e.g., conduit routing, equipment connections) into drawings as needed.
• Perform revisions based on design changes or field updates.
• Review architectural, mechanical, structural, and basic electrical drawings for consistency.
• Manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
• Follow all site safety policies when working in operational facilities.

Essential Skills

• Experience as a Drafter / Designer, preferably in industrial or manufacturing environments.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (2D).
• Experience creating and updating as-built drawings.
• Ability to perform field verification and measurements on-site.
• Knowledge of drafting principles and techniques.
• Ability to visualize and lay out assemblies and fabrication details.
• Understanding of weld symbols and basic electrical drafting concepts.
• Familiarity with building layouts and architectural elements (walls, doors, etc.).
• Understanding of basic MEP systems, including electrical, utilities, and equipment layouts.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with mechanical, architectural, structural, and electrical drawings.
• Experience in mechanical and/or basic electrical design drafting.
• Familiarity with Autodesk Inventor or similar tools.
• Experience with document control and revision processes.
• Comfortable working hands-on in active industrial environments.

Job Type & Location: This is a Contract position based out of Albany, OR.

Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $38.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
