Our work supports reliability, resilience, renewable integration, and the transition to a smarter, more sustainable energy infrastructure.

By joining our team, you'll contribute to projects that directly impact how energy is delivered across communities—today and for generations to come.

Position Overview

As an Electrical Design Technician, you'll play a critical role in delivering utility infrastructure projects that support grid modernization initiatives nationwide. Working closely with engineers, designers, and field teams, you'll develop technical designs using AutoCAD, support permitting and cost estimating, and help ensure projects meet safety, regulatory, and quality standards.

This is an ideal entry-level opportunity for candidates looking to launch a career in utility design, engineering support, or infrastructure development within a growing and mission-driven organization.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare and update utility designs and construction drawings using AutoCAD for power distribution and related infrastructure
  • Support grid modernization projects by assisting with drafting, engineering calculations, easement validation, and cost estimating
  • Conduct field surveys and inspections of overhead and underground facilities, documenting findings accurately
  • Review GIS Smallworld data to identify updates, conflicts, or design considerations
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, permitting teams, and construction crews to support on-time project delivery
  • Assemble and process permit packages, including interpreting electronic pole diagrams and utility records
  • Ensure all designs comply with company safety policies, construction standards, and governing authority regulations
  • Continuously learn and apply evolving utility design standards, safety rules, and regulatory requirements

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of or proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Ability to pass math and measurement assessments
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Strong interest in utility infrastructure, engineering design, or grid modernization
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, project-driven environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to GIS Smallworld or similar GIS platforms
  • Associate's degree in Design, Drafting, Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Familiarity with utility distribution systems, pole construction, or field-based surveying

Work Model & Environment

  • 80% remote / work-from-home, with approximately 20% fieldwork
  • Office location to be finalized- expect to convert to a hybrid schedule by end of year
  • Fieldwork includes site visits/inspections

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a firm leading the transformation of the U.S. power grid
  • Gain hands-on experience supporting major utility and infrastructure projects
  • Work alongside experienced engineers and designers who are invested in your growth
