Electrical Design Technician

We are seeking a highly motivated Design Technician to perform design work for a variety of utility customers using AutoCAD. You will complete designs for associated utility projects, engaging in tasks such as drafting, engineering calculations, and easement validation. The role requires a dynamic individual capable of managing multiple projects to ensure timely, successful completion and high levels of customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Perform drafting and engineering calculations for utility design projects.
• Validate easements and estimate design/construction costs.
• Develop permit packages for utility projects.
• Conduct surveys and inspections of overhead and underground lines.
• Test and document power distribution, compressors, and related facilities.
• Manage multiple projects to assure timely completion and customer satisfaction.
• Review GIS Smallworld for updates or conflicts.
• Coordinate construction projects across multiple departments to meet deadlines.
• Incorporate company safety rules, design standards, and regulations into daily work.
• Design and process permit files for overhead and underground utility electric projects.
• Decipher electronic pole diagrams.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in design, drafting, engineering, or a similar field.
• Ability to pass a math/measurement assessment.
• Experience with CAD is a plus.
• Familiarity with GIS Smallworld is advantageous.

Work Environment

This position involves working 20% of the time in the field and 80% in an office or remote setting. You will have the opportunity to enter the design field in an entry-level role, setting the foundation for a rewarding career.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Paul, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
