Electrical Designer

We are seeking a motivated Junior CAD Electrical Designer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and updating electrical schematics, layouts, and drawings using AutoCAD Electrical/AutoCAD software. You will collaborate closely with designers and engineers on a variety of electrical design projects, with a particular focus on building and designing control panels.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and revise electrical drawings, including single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and cable schedules using AutoCAD and/or other CAD software.
• Assist in the development of electrical design packages for projects from concept through construction phases.
• Incorporate redlines and markup feedback from engineers and project managers into drawings.
• Ensure drawings comply with company standards, industry codes (e.g., NEC, IEC), and client specifications.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers to gather design requirements and resolve technical issues.
• Maintain organized project files, drawing libraries, and documentation.
• Perform basic calculations and checks for accuracy of designs, such as load schedules and voltage drop.
• Support coordination with other disciplines, including mechanical, structural, and architectural, for multidisciplinary projects.
• Participate in design reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of CAD standards and templates.

Essential Skills

• 3+ years of experience as an Electrical Designer.
• 3+ years of professional experience using AutoCAD Electrical.
• Knowledge of UL508A and/or UL698A & Control Panels.
• Understanding of electrical systems, components, and terminology, including power distribution, lighting, controls, and reading engineering drawings.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with electrical schematics and hardware.
• Familiarity with industry codes such as NEC and IEC.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
