Electrical Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Engineering Department and support a diverse range of industrial manufacturing and water/wastewater treatment projects. In this role, you will contribute to electrical design throughout the full project lifecycle while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across multiple U.S. offices. This position offers opportunities to lead projects, mentor junior staff, and support the delivery of high-impact engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret project requirements, applicable codes, and industry standards to ensure compliance with client and regulatory expectations.
  • Perform electrical design calculations and prepare technical reports, specifications, and engineering documentation.
  • Produce detailed engineering drawings using Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Design power distribution systems in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and client standards.
  • Engineer facility grounding and lighting systems, using lighting design tools such as AGI32 or equivalent.
  • Develop power panel schedules, motor control layouts, wiring diagrams, instrumentation drawings, and associated schedules.
  • Prepare proposals, scopes of work, and fee estimates for engineering services.
  • Serve as the Electrical Lead Engineer on assigned projects, ensuring project scope, schedule, and quality standards are met.
  • Mentor early-career engineers and designers, supporting their technical development.
  • Promote and maintain health and safety practices throughout all project phases.
  • Apply established quality control processes and communicate project status to project managers or owners.
  • Review shop drawings for technical accuracy and compliance with design intent.
  • Conduct site visits, inspections, and field verifications.
  • Prepare construction cost estimates and assist with project closeout activities, including punch list development.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in electrical engineering for water/wastewater treatment, industrial, or manufacturing facilities
  • Strong proficiency in electrical engineering fundamentals, standards, and design practices
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations using modeling software
  • Solid working knowledge of the NEC
  • Proficiency with Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD MEP
  • Experience with lighting design software such as AGI32 or similar tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, or interest in pursuing licensure
  • Ability to apply advanced engineering judgment and operate with a high degree of independence

Work Environment

This role offers a hybrid work model, requiring two in-office days per week. Fully remote work may be considered for highly qualified candidates. Work is performed collaboratively across both domestic and international project teams.

  • Office Location: Winston-Salem / Greensboro region (Acro Corporate Center)
  • Large open office with approximately 75 employees, including 55 engineering staff
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
  • Work-from-home flexibility: Up to 3 days per week (Tuesdays required in office)

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charlotte, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $48.00/hr.
