Electrical Designer

Carry out the electrical design of machines in accordance with customer requests and specifications. The machines can be machine tools, automated lines, or robotic cells.

Responsibilities:

• Select the electrical equipment necessary for the operation of the machine.
• Select electrical components for machine cabinets.
• Design the cabinet using SolidWorks Electrical drawing software.
• Design machine connection diagrams.
• Perform calculations to select the correct components 600 volts and less.
• Diagram the electrical distribution and control the inputs and outputs (I/O).
• Define the specifications of the sub-assemblies (hydraulic unit, cooling, watering, etc.).
• Communicate with subcontractors to specify requirements and understand how subassemblies work.
• Produce overall and detailed plans.
• Define the standard components to be used electrically, as well as machine safety, according to the standards of the country in which the machine will be installed.
• Maintain internal standards governing the electrical design of machines according to advances and new developments in the electrical field.
• Support internal customers (machine connection department and after-sales service) by answering specific questions related to connection or adjusting diagrams.
• Respect the schedule and allocated budgets established by the pre-project department.

Essential Skills:

• 2+ years of electrical design experience.
• Experience in manufacturing, electrical engineering, robotics, automated machinery, component selection, PLC programming.

Additional Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or DEC in electrical engineering.
• Experience in an automation/robotics industry.
• Knowledge of PLC programming.
• The candidate must be eligible to work in Canada.

Job Type & Location:

This is a contract position based out of Sherbrooke, QC.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $65.00/hr.
