Electrical Designer

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Designer to join our team in south Calgary. This full-time, contract-to-hire role is focused on supporting a range of exciting projects, including a fully electric compressor station and new client initiatives in the United States. The position offers the opportunity to lead and execute design tasks, coordinate drawing packages, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and execute electrical design and drafting tasks for engineering projects.
• Coordinate and oversee the preparation of drawing packages.
• Collaborate with structural, civil, and piping disciplines to integrate design elements.
• Participate in client meetings, model reviews, and design reviews.
• Take full accountability for the electrical design aspects of assigned projects.
• Mentor and guide junior designers and drafters.
• Serve as the main point of contact for pulling together complete design packages.
• Utilize AutoCAD (2D and 3D) and optionally CADWorx for design work.
• Demonstrate initiative and integrate effectively with project teams.
• Lead small design teams and coordinate drawing workflows.
• Support both brownfield and greenfield project environments.
• Engage in client-facing activities when required, including leading design reviews.

Essential Skills:

• 10 - 15 years of electrical design experience, particularly in AutoCAD 2D.
• Ability to lead and coordinate drawing packages and project deliverables.
• Experience in electrical schematics and design principles.
• Prior experience with full accountability on a project.
• Team leadership skills, including mentoring junior designers and coordinating with drafters.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• CADWorx experience (not required but beneficial).
• 3D modeling skills, especially in AutoCAD.
• Experience with SmartPlant, MicroStation, Bluebeam.
• Ability to lead model reviews and represent the team in client discussions.
• Flexibility to support instrumentation teams and cross-functional tasks.

Work Environment:

The role is based in the Sundance office, operating Monday to Friday, with some flexibility offered on a candidate-by-candidate basis. Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract position based out of Calgary, Alberta.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00/hr.
