Electrical Drafter / Designer

This role supports the development of next-generation construction printing systems by designing and updating electrical and control systems for large-scale industrial equipment. You will begin with CAD-based electrical design and drafting, then transition into hands-on installation, wiring, and subsystem build support on-site, working closely with engineers and technicians throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and update electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control system designs for large-scale industrial equipment.
  • Support modifications to electrical systems associated with new hardware components such as pumps, mixers, hoses, and related subsystems.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers to implement updated system designs for evolving product configurations.
  • Use CAD tools, including AutoCAD Electrical, to produce accurate and up-to-date electrical and controls documentation under the direction of senior electrical engineers.
  • Assist in building and installing electrical subsystems, including wiring, harnessing, and system integration activities.
  • Work alongside technicians during system assembly and testing to ensure correct installation and functionality of electrical systems.
  • Support troubleshooting, diagnosis, and adjustments during equipment build and deployment phases.
  • Lead or support technicians during on-site implementation and installation while continuing to refine and update design documentation.
  • Contribute to prototype builds and support evolving hardware designs by incorporating design changes into electrical documentation and installations.
  • Maintain clear communication with engineering and technician teams to coordinate design changes, installation activities, and test results throughout the project.

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years of experience as an Electrical Designer, Electrical Drafter, or in a closely related role.
  • Strong experience developing and interpreting electrical schematics and wiring designs for industrial or construction-related equipment.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical or similar CAD tools for electrical and controls design.
  • Background in industrial equipment, manufacturing, or construction environments.
  • Hands-on experience with wiring, harnessing, and electrical system integration.
  • Experience supporting prototype builds or working with evolving hardware designs.
  • Experience with industrial construction or heavy equipment electrical systems.
  • Experience with control systems integration, including coordination of electrical and control components.
  • Experience with electrical subsystem installation and commissioning.
  • Ability to work effectively with engineers and technicians in both design and field installation phases.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues during assembly, testing, and deployment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working on large-scale or complex industrial equipment projects.
  • Familiarity with construction printing systems or similar advanced industrial technologies.
  • Comfort working through the full project lifecycle, from CAD-based design to field installation and commissioning.
  • Strong attention to detail in documentation, wiring practices, and safety considerations.
  • Effective communication skills for coordinating with cross-functional engineering and technical teams.
  • Adaptability to support evolving designs and changing project requirements.

Work Environment

This is an on-site role with standard hours of approximately 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The position begins in a design-focused environment using CAD tools and collaborating closely with engineers in an office and shop setting. As the project progresses, the role transitions to more hands-on work in the field, including installation and subsystem builds. During installation phases at the end of the project, you will work in outdoor environments and must be comfortable operating in summer heat and other variable weather conditions while performing wiring, integration, and commissioning activities on large industrial equipment.
