Mechanical Designer – Electrical Harnesses

Role Overview

As a Mechanical Harness Designer, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary engineering team to develop harnesses for antennas, satellite payloads, and satellite platforms. You will be responsible for establishing harness concepts from the bid phase through to detailed definition, ensuring the final product meets customer needs and technical requirements. You'll use advanced CAD tools to model and predict design behavior, support manufacturing and testing, and contribute to R&D efforts.

Responsibilities

• Select harness components
• Design harness routing and mounting points
• Interpret and integrate customer requirements
• Collaborate with electrical, materials, structural, and thermal teams to create 3D models
• Develop and review manufacturing and assembly drawings, and parts lists
• Evaluate system costs and establish schedules
• Monitor supplier progress
• Support integration and testing during design and manufacturing phases
• Develop mass production budgets
• Present designs to internal and external stakeholders

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical design
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, and advanced Excel
• Knowledge of harness component selection
• Ability to track design changes and maintain documentation

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual (English/French)
• Experience in mechanical harness design
• Proficiency in CAD software (NX preferred)
• Familiarity with harness and electronic system standards
• Understanding of EMI requirements and signal separation
• Knowledge of VBA programming

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00/hr.

This is a hybrid position in Sainte-Anne-De-Bellevue,QC.
