Mechanical Drafter

The Mechanical Drafter is responsible for creating and maintaining detailed 3D models of HVAC and plumbing systems using BIM software. This role involves collaborating with engineers and project managers to develop accurate and efficient designs, coordinating with other disciplines to ensure model integrity, and updating models based on field changes while ensuring all documentation complies with industry standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Create detailed 3D models using software tools such as Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Collaborate with the design team to develop accurate and efficient building information models.
  • Assist in mechanical design projects using relevant software.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
  • Participate in project meetings to discuss progress and address any design issues.
  • Regularly meet job schedules and communicate effectively with the project management team and foremen.
  • Pre-coordinate work and publish models to STRATUS.
  • Set up projects in Revit and perform quality assurance on own work.
  • Conduct CAD clerical work and ensure accuracy in all tasks.

Essential Skills:

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and REVIT.
  • 2+ years of drafting experience in HVAC or design.
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand mechanical-piping schematic layouts.
  • Fundamental knowledge of 3D Revit family geometry creation and manipulation.
  • Strong mechanical and conceptual aptitude.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Two-year college degree in CAD or drafting studies, or equivalent related work experience.
  • Experience with plumbing and mechanical pipe modeling.
  • Knowledge of Oregon Mechanical Code and plumbing code is preferred.
  • Experience with software such as Navisworks, Newforma Konekt, and Microsoft Office.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team atmosphere.
  • Demonstrated ability to set goals and meet deadlines.

Work Environment:

The company is employee-owned with a growing design and BIM team focusing heavily on REVIT, offering extensive training in REVIT and design. You will work closely with an engineering team and a CAD department in a collaborative and professional setting.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, OR.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
