Interior Designer – Contract Furniture (Corporate Account)

This role focuses on contract furniture design and space planning to support a high-volume corporate account in the coffee retail sector on the dealer side. You will create accurate furniture layouts and specifications for private offices and support spaces, ensuring order accuracy and alignment with client standards. The position is highly client-facing and fast-paced, requiring strong communication skills, advanced proficiency in CET and AutoCAD, and substantial contract furniture dealer experience. This is not an architecture and design (A&D) studio role and is not open to junior designers. The position requires on-site presence initially, with hybrid flexibility available after the ramp-up period.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed furniture layouts and space plans for commercial office environments, including private offices and support spaces, using CET and AutoCAD.
  • Create accurate furniture specifications and bills of materials to ensure correct product selection, configuration, and order accuracy.
  • Support a high-volume corporate account by managing multiple concurrent projects and design requests within established timelines.
  • Collaborate closely with sales, project management, and installation teams to align design solutions with client requirements, budgets, and schedules.
  • Communicate directly with clients to understand their needs, present design solutions, and incorporate feedback into final layouts and specifications.
  • Apply commercial interior design principles to optimize space utilization, workflow, and user experience within corporate office environments.
  • Coordinate with furniture manufacturers and dealers to confirm product details, finishes, and compatibility, ensuring seamless project execution.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in all drawings, specifications, and documentation to minimize errors and rework.
  • Use CET, AutoCAD, and other relevant software (such as SketchUp or Project Spec) to produce professional, clear, and compliant design documentation.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously, adapting to shifting priorities while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines.
  • Participate in ongoing product education and training to stay current on furniture lines, systems, and design tools.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team culture by sharing knowledge, supporting colleagues, and participating in cross-functional coordination.
  • Provide design input and support during the installation phase as needed, helping to resolve layout or specification issues that may arise.

Essential Skills:

  • 5+ years of contract furniture dealer experience, preferably supporting commercial office projects.
  • Proficiency in CET for furniture layout, specification, and visualization.
  • Advanced AutoCAD skills for space planning, technical drawings, and documentation.
  • Proven experience in commercial office space planning and design development.
  • Demonstrated ability to work directly with clients in a confident, professional, and client-facing capacity.
  • Experience working with a furniture manufacturer or dealer in a high-volume, project-driven environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in furniture specifications and order documentation.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for client communication and internal collaboration.
  • Solid understanding of commercial interiors and workplace planning principles.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with SketchUp, CET, or Project Spec for visualization and specification workflows.
  • Experience supporting multiple projects at once in a corporate account or similar setting.
  • Background working with well-known contract furniture manufacturers or systems (experience with Haworth is a plus).
  • Experience collaborating closely with sales, project management, and installation teams.
  • Comfort working in a highly collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work effectively.
  • Interest in ongoing professional development through product education and training.
  • Commercial interiors or interior design education or training is beneficial.

Work Environment:

This position operates in a fast-paced, project-driven environment with multiple concurrent initiatives supporting a major corporate account. You will work closely with design, sales, project management, and installation teams in a highly collaborative setting that values accuracy, responsiveness, and high-quality work. The role requires an initial on-site presence, transitioning to a hybrid model with a mix of in-office work and time spent at client locations (typically three days on site and two days with the client, subject to business needs). You will use tools such as CET, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Project Spec, and you will regularly engage with industry-leading furniture and design solutions. The workplace offers meaningful opportunities for professional growth through ongoing product education, increasing responsibility, and clear paths for advancement. The environment is professional yet flexible, with access to unlimited coffee from a major coffee brand partner and a budget-friendly cafeteria for lunches.
