Entry-Level Kitchen Facility Designer

Build the spaces behind iconic restaurants.

This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for a design graduate who wants real-world impact, fast learning, and exposure to large-scale, nationwide projects —without being stuck at a traditional architecture firm.

We're hiring a Facility Designer to support a major restaurant remodeling and modernization program across North America. You'll help design the kitchens, order areas, and back-of-house spaces that keep some of the world's most recognizable restaurants running efficiently.

If you're excited about space planning, kitchen layouts, branding, and seeing your designs built at scale, this role is for you.

What You'll Do

  • Support a nationwide restaurant "refresh" and modernization program
  • Design kitchen and order-area layouts with a focus on efficiency and flow
  • Analyze customer and employee traffic patterns to improve space utilization
  • Assist with equipment placement and reconfiguration in active restaurant environments
  • Produce and update interior construction documents using AutoCAD (floor plans, elevations, sections, and details)
  • Review and redline drawings using AutoDesk Design Review
  • Review shop drawings and coordinate with vendors and suppliers
  • Ensure designs comply with ADA requirements
  • Assist with architectural detailing and space planning
  • Place kitchen equipment, plumbing fixtures, utilities, and order stations
  • Review architectural drawings and confirm signage and branding standards
  • Coordinate with outside architects and internal teams

What We're Looking For

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Interior Architecture
  • 0–2 years of experience (internships or academic projects welcome)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Familiarity with construction documents, elevations, sections, and details
  • Ability to review and mark up architectural drawings

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to commercial, retail, or restaurant design
  • Interest in kitchen design and operational layouts
  • Desire to work on the owner/client side rather than a traditional design firm
  • Interest in branding, signage, and real-world implementation

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Work on thousands of active projects for one of the world's largest restaurant brands
  • Be part of a collaborative team (4–8 designers) with strong mentorship
  • See your work go from concept to construction
  • Learn quickly through high-volume, real-world design exposure
  • Gain experience that opens doors to facility design, space planning, and owner-side roles

Work Environment & Benefits

  • Hybrid schedule: 3 days in-office / 2 days remote
  • Office located in Chicago's West Loop / Fulton Market with skyline views
  • Structured onboarding and hands-on training
  • 2 weeks PTO + matched holidays
  • Optional gym membership
  • Thursday happy hours and a professional, energetic team culture
  • Fast-paced, design-forward environment with real growth potential
