As a Mechanical Designer, you will play a critical role in the design and development of industrial manufacturing equipment. You will participate in design schedule development, attend review meetings, and collaborate with project team members to ensure design consistency that aligns with project goals.
Analyze engineering sketches, specifications, and related data to determine design factors for industrial manufacturing equipment, processes, and products.
Develop and apply sound construction concepts to achieve cost-effective manufacturability, field interchangeability, tolerance management, maintainability, and functionality.
Recognize and develop prototypes of high-risk mechanisms, produce assembly and detail drawings, update and revise drawings as needed, and review vendor capabilities.
Generate adjustment procedures and spare parts lists, provide technical support during the build phase, and maintain proficiency with industry standards and software.
Stay informed of new products and mechanical design techniques, and assist with the standardization of components and mechanisms.
10+ years of Mechanical Design/Engineering experience in the field of Automation.
5+ years of designing equipment using Solidworks.
Experience in automation, machinery design, and mechanical design.
Proficiency in Solidworks, AutoCAD 2D, and Microsoft Office.
Project leadership experience.
Experience interfacing with customers.
Experience with leak-test machines and EOL testing.
Technical project engineering capabilities or the potential for growth into that skill set.

The facility provides opportunities for a candidate to assume 'Cradle to Grave' project responsibilities, including lead design activities with cross-disciplinary interface.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Livonia, Michigan.
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $50.00/hr.
