Mechanical Designer

As a Mechanical Designer, you will design custom modifications to complex HVAC equipment, assemblies, or structures using CAD and product life cycle management systems. You will be responsible for documenting parts, bills of materials, and product configurations. Under engineering guidance, you will make necessary calculations using established engineering formulas or data for design or configuration solutions. You will select and specify materials and components for product design while considering requirements. Additionally, you will coordinate and direct project planning, scheduling, and manpower assignments for multiple projects. Communication with customers regarding product specifications will also be a key part of your role.

Responsibilities

  • Design custom modifications to complex HVAC equipment using CAD and product life cycle management systems.
  • Document parts, bills of materials, and product configurations.
  • Perform necessary calculations for design solutions under engineering guidance.
  • Select and specify materials and components for product designs.
  • Coordinate and direct project planning, scheduling, and manpower assignments.
  • Communicate with customers regarding product specifications.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in mechanical design.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Creo, Solidworks, and Catia.
  • Expertise in new product development, CAD, and 3D modeling.
  • Strong understanding of schematics, product design, and documentation.
  • Familiarity with HVAC systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Associates degree in mechanical, electrical, or electronic design field.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with ProEngineer and PTC Windchill is a plus.
  • Knowledge of change control and assembly drawing.

Work Environment

This role is based in an open office environment with a hybrid work schedule. You will work from the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with remote work available on Monday and Friday. The standard work schedule is from 8am to 5pm, with flexible start times between 6am and 9am, and corresponding end times between 3pm and 6pm. While overtime is rare, during busy periods, the workweek may extend up to 50 hours. Enjoy the benefit of six paid holidays and five personal PTO days. The role offers a flexible schedule, allowing you to start and finish your workday within the required eight-hour timeframe.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lexington, Kentucky.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
