Mechanical Designer
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will develop design solutions for structural products and components, collaborating closely with our engineering staff to ensure design concepts and progress align with project goals.
Responsibilities
- Develop design solutions for assigned structural products and components.
- Interact with engineering staff on design concepts and progress.
- Design responsibility may be assigned for a portion of a project or program.
- Develop layouts, sketches, and blueprints and investigate design factors such as damage tolerance, durability, and structural modeling.
- Detail related structural assemblies, mechanisms, and devices.
- Validate conformity to design standards and specifications, identify design errors, and recommend changes.
- Provide documentation and identify design issues, making technical design presentations to engineering staff as required.
- Stay current in CAD techniques and applicable state-of-the-art engineering design software applications.
- Observe all laws, regulations, and obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the company.
- Work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in SolidWorks design software.
- Experience in cable routing and wire harness design.
- Experience in drafting and designing machined parts, wire harness, and mechanical components.
- Understanding of engineering design concepts and principles.
- Strong organizational, scheduling, and coordination skills.
- Excellent communication, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work extended hours as required.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Associates degree or a certificate from a recognized organization indicating completion of training in SolidWorks.
- Eight or more years of progressive experience utilizing CAD software, with at least six months using SolidWorks.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
Work Environment
The work environment involves utilizing state-of-the-art engineering design software applications, with an expectation of adhering to established safety procedures and practices. The candidate should be prepared to work extended hours when necessary to meet project deadlines.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Poway, California.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $43.00 - $55.00/hr.
