Junior to Mid-Level Cad Drafter / Mechanical Designer

We are seeking a Junior to Mid-Level CAD Drafter / Mechanical Designer to support our production and manufacturing workflow. This role is heavily focused on technical drafting, shop drawing accuracy, and design revisions, working closely with a sr. drafter as well as cross-functional sales and project management teams.

This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented drafter who enjoys ownership over their work and wants to contribute meaningfully within a stable, family-owned organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Create, edit, and review 2D shop drawings using AutoCAD
• Translate architectural plans, sketches, and redlines into clear, build-ready drawings
• Revise drawings efficiently based on internal and external feedback
• Maintain drawing standards, accuracy, and proper version control
• Assist with material take-offs and documentation to support manufacturing
• Partner with sales and project management to ensure drawings align with project scope and timelines

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 3 years of drafting experience
• Background in construction, fabrication, or manufacturing environments strongly preferred
• Solid understanding of construction documents and technical drawings
• Ability to work independently from markups, sketches, and established drafting standards
• Proficient in AutoCAD and familiar with 3D design tools

Additional Qualifications (Preferred)

• Experience with SolidWorks, mechanical drafting, and sheet metal design
• Familiarity with steel fabrication and structural/metal components
• Exposure to Revit, SketchUp, and MPanel is a plus
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving mindset

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Santa Ana, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00/hr.
