Mechanical Designer

A growing consulting engineering firm in Charlotte, NC, is seeking a Mechanical Designer with 2–3 years of experience to support commercial building projects. This role involves working closely with mechanical engineers to produce high-quality HVAC designs and construction documents across various building types. It is an excellent opportunity for designers looking to deepen their technical skills, gain exposure to full project lifecycles, and grow within a collaborative MEP environment.

Responsibilities:

• Develop mechanical design drawings and construction documents for commercial building projects.
• Support HVAC system layout, ductwork, piping, and equipment selections under engineer direction.
• Produce and modify drawings using Revit (and AutoCAD as needed).
• Assist with coordination across disciplines (architectural, structural, electrical).
• Participate in QA/QC reviews to ensure accuracy and code compliance.
• Incorporate markups, redlines, and field feedback into design documents.
• Support permit and construction-phase documentation as required.

Essential Skills:

• 2–3 years of experience as a Mechanical Designer or HVAC Designer.
• Experience working on commercial building projects (office, healthcare, education, mixed-use, etc.).
• Proficiency in Revit for mechanical design.
• Working knowledge of HVAC systems, ductwork, and mechanical layouts.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a team-based environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Associate's degree or technical training in drafting, engineering technology, or related field.
• Familiarity with building codes and mechanical standards is a plus.
• Exposure to energy models, load calculations, or equipment schedules.
• Experience coordinating within an MEP consulting environment.

Work Environment:

The position offers a hybrid schedule with 2 days a week working from home. The office is conveniently located just outside of Uptown Charlotte, NC. The company provides the opportunity to work on multiple diverse projects, promoting a dynamic and engaging work environment.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $80000.00/yr. 401K Medical Dental Vision
