Design Engineer – Aerosol Dispensing Products

We are seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to lead hands-on design, prototyping, and project management for aerosol dispensing and packaging products in the St. Louis area. This position involves developing new devices, refining existing ones, building and testing prototypes, and supporting manufacturing scale-up using SolidWorks and high-volume techniques like injection molding. This role is perfect for engineers who love creative problem-solving, owning projects end-to-end, and collaborating across teams in a dynamic consumer goods space.

Responsibilities

  • Design innovative mechanical components and dispensing devices for aerosol products using SolidWorks, focusing on injection molding, metal stamping, 3D printing, and high-speed assembly compatibility.
  • Own full development cycles from concept and prototyping through testing, documentation, and successful market launch—managing timelines, budgets, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Build and test prototypes and evaluation fixtures; conduct performance and lifecycle testing; analyze data, and drive continuous improvements.
  • Create and maintain detailed engineering drawings, product specifications, and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs); collaborate with QA on inspection methods.
  • Deliver expert technical support and troubleshooting to Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Sales, Customer Service, and external partners/customers.
  • Uphold SQF food packaging safety standards while keeping lab and production areas clean, organized, and efficient.
  • Contribute to team innovation in a supportive environment that values rapid adaptation and shared success.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Package Design, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical product design, preferably in aerosol, packaging, dispensing, consumer goods, or high-volume manufacturing.
  • Advanced SolidWorks proficiency, including modeling, assemblies, and drawings.
  • Knowledge of injection molding, plastic mold design, metal stamping, high-speed manufacturing, and rapid prototyping.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple initiatives, lead and contribute to teams, and adapt quickly.
  • Excellent technical writing, data analysis, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
  • Mechanical aptitude with a basic understanding of chemical principles relevant to aerosol products.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with 3D printing, Six Sigma, Lean methodologies, or project management tools.
  • Background in aerosol filling and packaging systems is preferred but not required.
