Mechanical Designer/Drafter for Material Handling Equipment
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer/Drafter responsible for creating detailed drawings of material handling equipment, work areas, and components. This role involves design support for both current and future initiatives, requiring a high level of detail in both plan and elevation views. The ideal candidate is a self-starter capable of working independently to standardize workspaces and designs across a large network of fulfillment operations.
Responsibilities:
- Create new CAD blocks of equipment and conveyor layouts for new installations.
- Brainstorm and fit new equipment with existing setups, such as connecting conveyor to conveyor.
- Develop new concepts for future designs.
- Collaborate with engineers to draft and design plans for a large sort center.
- Utilize BIM 360 for projects and maintain project documentation in Smartsheets.
Essential Skills:
- Minimum 3 years of operating experience in CAD with proficiency in managing layers and elevation plans.
- 3+ years of experience in 3D software such as Configura, SolidWorks, or Inventor.
- Associate's Degree in Drafting and Design.
- Basic knowledge of material handling and storage systems.
- Mechanical aptitude for understanding how machines fit together.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience with AutoCAD 2D and 3D software programs.
- Experience in designing material handling systems/layouts with plan and elevation views.
- Familiarity with drafting, advanced concept drafting, and retrofitting centers.
- Experience with assembly line design and large equipment design.
- Preferred experience in conveyor design and layout.
Work Environment:
This position offers a hybrid work environment with 3 days in the office. Candidates can be based in Bellevue, WA. The role requires adaptability to a fast-paced and ambiguous environment. Successful candidates will be task-driven and capable of working independently.
Job Type & Location:
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bellevue, Washington.
Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $39.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
