Piping Designer

The piping designer will be responsible for creating detailed designs and layouts for piping systems, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards. The role involves CAD design of basic equipment layouts, piping routings that are consistent with codes, standards, and client requirements. The designer will coordinate the work of other lead designers assigned to the task and ensure that discipline leads have the correct project standards and checklists. Maintaining and updating the overall 3D model as required is also part of the responsibilities. Additionally, the designer will prepare engineering drawings and documentation and participate in meetings with clients as requested by the Project Manager.

  • Create detailed designs and layouts for piping systems.
  • Ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Conduct CAD design of equipment layouts and piping routings.
  • Coordinate work with other lead designers assigned to the task.
  • Ensure discipline leads have the correct project standards and checklists.
  • Maintain and update the overall 3D model as required.
  • Prepare engineering drawings and documentation.
  • Participate in client meetings as requested by the Project Manager.
  • Proficiency in Piping Design, AutoCAD, and Plant 3D.
  • Experience with Process Piping and CAD.
  • Strong skills in Design, Drafting, P&ID, and 3D Design.
  • 5+ years of experience in piping engineering and/or design.
  • Prior engineering services experience preferred.
  • Ability to read client Piping Specifications.
  • Experience with P&ID walkdowns, field measurements, and isometric drawings.
  • Ability to lead a small team to track deliverables.
  • Associate Degree in Drafting or Design.
  • Hands-on experience in developing equipment, overall facility layouts, preparation of 3D piping models, orthographic drawings, isometrics, bill of materials, and design of piping supports.

The candidate will work on-site and in an office, collaborating with small teams. Office hours are from 8 AM to 5 PM with some flexibility. The work environment fosters an entrepreneurial spirit, teamwork, and growth and development opportunities.

This is a Permanent position based out of Kansas City, MO.

The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
