Design Lead

The Design Lead will be primarily responsible for providing data center design services. The candidate must possess a thorough understanding of Data Center technology infrastructure design practices and Hyper-Scaler Standards. This expertise will enable them to liaise effectively with clients, developers, installation contractors, and all related design team members. The role involves managing a design team of 3 to 5 technology engineers, managing client expectations, meeting deadlines, and developing and coordinating appropriate design solutions for successful project delivery.

Responsibilities

1. Implement ICT Data Infrastructure design for Data Center Technology projects, including Outside/Inside Fiber Plant, Data Cabling Pathways, Conveyance, Grounding, Wi-Fi, and related Data Systems.
2. Handle projects involving Hyper-Scaler Single Tenant, Co-Location, and Enterprise Data Centers ranging from 1MW to 108MW and multi-provider campuses.
3. Design construction documents, including drawings and specifications.
4. Conduct design reviews using Revit, Autodesk Construction, BuildingConnected, and Bluebeam Sessions.
5. Perform on-site inspections and develop field reports, with national travel to project sites within the continental US.
6. Ensure compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements through directing or coordinating installation, manufacturing, construction, maintenance, documentation, support, or testing activities.
7. Assist with business development and client outreach events.

Essential Skills

• 5+ years of experience in Data Center Infrastructure Design & Construction
• Proficiency in REVIT and BIM Software
• Experience in managing projects and designing complex security systems in Revit
• Knowledge of ICT, low voltage, Fiber Plant, Data Cabling Pathways, Conveyance, Data Systems, construction document specifications

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Preferred certifications: RCDD, OSP, PMP, PSP, RTPM, CTS

Work Environment

The position offers the flexibility to work fully remote. The company is a leader in technology engineering within a rapidly growing market. The work involves assisting in all technology-oriented designs within complex buildings, including audio/visual systems, security systems, and IT infrastructure. The focus is on low/medium voltage design. Current and upcoming workloads consist of data-center projects involving two customers, one large site, and another with four different sites, all located in the US. The office is located in Woodridge, IL, and the team consists of approximately 40 employees.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Woodridge, Illinois.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $48.08 - $72.11/hr.
