Technical Designer

Locations: Renton, Auburn, Puyallup, and Everett Washington sites

We are seeking a skilled Technical Designer to join our dynamic team. This role involves applying fundamental drafting principles and a solid understanding of design concepts to address product and process issues in real-time during the fabrication process. You will be responsible for creating drafted parts and product structures that support operational and quality concerns, performing model definition changes based on engineering input, and collaborating across various functions to support design changes and improvements. This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, agile environment, with a potential to progress into a senior technical designer role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide materials and process support throughout the full life cycle of the airplane, from design to production to fleet support.
  • Define electrical, electronic, and electromechanical components used across products.
  • Review electrical component materials, process specifications, and other engineering documents to control design, certify, and produce systems hardware.
  • Identify impacts of non-conformances associated with electrical components and recommend corrective/preventative actions.
  • Conduct engineering lab and failure analysis to determine the cause and corrective action for failed electrical components.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies for potential application in future products, enabling a competitive advantage.
  • Lead or collaborate with multiple engineering teams, including Design, Stress, Quality, Manufacturing, and Suppliers, to solve materials and process challenges.
  • Produce requirement specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of tools, equipment, materials, parts, and processes.

Essential Skills

  • Associate degree in a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 or more years of experience in aerospace design, including work with detail and assembly parts.
  • Experience with CATIA or equivalent solid modeling software.
  • Basic understanding and usage of computer-aided design.
  • Experience with the Integrated Visualization Tool (IVT).
  • Understanding of design product structure, details, parts, assemblies, and installations.
  • Understanding of machining metallic parts.

Work Environment

The work environment is embedded within active manufacturing settings, offering a hands-on, fast-paced, and highly collaborative atmosphere. You will interact daily with engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and leadership teams. Safety, quality, and schedule discipline are central to the workflow. This role requires a strong factory-floor presence and involves a mix of problem-solving, firefighting, and long-term improvement work. Depending on the location, you may work in environments ranging from high-energy production sites to large-scale complex manufacturing settings, with exposure to advanced manufacturing technologies. The work may include first, second, or third shifts, with potential weekend and overtime hours. Production teams work hands-on with complex systems, cutting-edge technology, and highly skilled teammates, directly shaping the future of commercial aviation.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Everett, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
