Scope of the Role
The product development researcher will be instrumental in shaping new product launches and improvements. Positioned at the intersection of market research, consumer insights, trend analysis, and product strategy, this role involves close collaboration with product development, marketing, and leadership teams. The ideal candidate enjoys deep research, understands consumer behavior, and can translate insights into actionable product recommendations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct qualitative and quantitative research to support new product development initiatives
Analyse market trends, competitor products, pricing strategies, and positioning within the beauty and professional care industry
Gather and synthesise customer insights through reviews, surveys, focus groups, social listening, and community feedback
Identify gaps in the market and emerging consumer needs to inform product ideation
Collaborate with internal teams to translate research findings into clear product briefs and recommendations
Support validation of product concepts through testing, feedback loops, and post-launch analysis
Track product performance and customer sentiment to inform future iterations and improvements
Maintain organised documentation of research findings and insights for cross-functional use
Requirements
Proven experience in product research, consumer insights, market research, or product development (ideally within consumer goods, beauty, or lifestyle brands)
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify patterns and opportunities
Experience conducting both desk research and user-focused research methods
Comfortable working with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, remote environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present insights clearly
Close attention to detail and strong organisational skills
Experience working with global or multi-market products is a plus
Familiarity with e-commerce brands and DTC business models is highly desirable
