ICT Designer
The Information & Communication Technologies (ICT) Designer works alongside architects, engineers and interior designers daily, providing unique opportunities for collaboration and personal development not available in many other design firms. The designer will be required to develop integrated ICT solutions for a wide variety of clients utilizing standardized Structured Cabling Systems (SCS) best practices. The ICT Designer will be required to develop ICT solutions based on client requirements.
The successful candidate will have a thorough knowledge of ICT infrastructure and possess exceptional business and people skills as well as managing the various design phases of complex ICT projects. The candidate will have the ability to work independently and communicate in a confident, articulate and sensitive manner is essential. The candidate should have a passion for design innovation and quality and be able to effectively balance that with efficiency and creativity in the development of the design solution.
Candidates for this position will perform specific and/or limited ICT Design and Consulting duties for Data Centers and Commercial Facilities as part of a team of expert Consultants to:
- Design structured cabling systems, both copper and fiber.
- Define cable pathways/containment and spaces to support multiple service providers and redundant entry paths.
- Specify racks' elevations including ODFs, patch panels, and other passive components.
- Ensure compliance with Codes, standards and regulations.
- Develop drawings, technical specifications, and bills of quantities.
- Coordinate closely with architecture, structural, civil, electrical, mechanical, security, and operations.
- Collaborate with various teams to facilitate the integration of security systems, building automation, energy and power management systems, audiovisual solutions, and other IP-based technologies utilized in building operations.
- Apply in-depth knowledge of ICT infrastructure types and uses to perform complex and unique assignments including survey, design, development, and construction administration of ICT infrastructure projects.
- Gather and correlate engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
- Work on detailed and/or routine design and/or consulting assignments.
- Perform work in accordance with the agreed-upon budget and schedule with supervision.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university + 5 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Strong written and spoken English skills are essential for effective communication and collaboration within the team and with stakeholders.
- Professional experience and/or proficiency in various software products, including but not limited to, Revit, AutoCAD, Visio Professional, Bluebeam Extreme (Revu), Microsoft Project, Microsoft 365 Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.) and other ICT Specific Programs
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of design experience with ICT infrastructure
- Current BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) Certification or other active BICSI Certification.
- A working knowledge of the AIA design process is also desirable.
- Professional experience and/or proficiency in various Codes Standards and regulations including but not limited to Permitting, State & Local Ordinances, IEEE – C2 Standard (National Electrical Safety Code), OSHA - 1910 Standards, ANSI/TIA – Cabling Standards as 568/569, ISO/IEC 11801, ISO/IEC 27001, TIA – Data Center Standards as ANSI/TIA-942 and BICSI – TDMM and other Manuals.
