The R&D Product Designer role is responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and developing new products that align with our company's strategic goals. This position requires a blend of creative design skills, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of market trends to bring innovative products to life.

About the team: The R&D Innovation & Sustainability team within the division of Consumer Packaging International is composed of experienced professionals dedicated to advancing the company´s innovation and sustainability goals. With allocations in multiple geographies having expertise across Healthcare, Homecare, Food, Beverage, Beauty and Wellness; with focus on: Sustainability: Implement and scale sustainable business practices across operations and value chain, focusing on reducing environmental impact while maximizing circularity and enhancing value creation. Product Innovation: Creating new and improved packaging designs that meet the evolving needs of customers across various industries. Cost Innovation: Value creation by reducing the costs associated with producing or delivering a product or service, while maintaining or improving its quality and performance.

Key Function Responsibilities:

  • Generate innovative product concepts based on market research, customer feedback, and emerging trends.
  • Create detailed design specifications, sketches, and prototypes using CAD software and other design tools.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, marketing, and manufacturing to ensure design feasibility and alignment with business objectives.
  • Conduct product testing and iterate designs based on feedback and performance data.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget constraints.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and materials to continuously bring fresh ideas to the table to be presented to the R&D Expert Centers team on a quarterly basis.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of design processes, specifications, and project progress.

Key performance indicators:

  • Tracks the number of innovative product ideas generated within a specific period.
  • Measures the time taken to move from concept to prototype, indicating efficiency in the design process.
  • Measure the percentage of prototypes that successfully pass testing phases and move to the next stage of development.
  • Evaluates the financial return generated from new products relative to the investment made in their development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in product design and development, preferably in an R&D environment.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, KeyShot, etc).
  • Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and engineering principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to think creatively and innovatively.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Project management experience is a plus.
