In this role, you will lead the coordinated delivery and governance of Defence capability products, oversee complex planning, and ensure the successful achievement of Air Combat systems project and product milestones. You will ensure activities remain aligned with program objectives and progress as planned.
Working under limited direction within an integrated workforce, you will manage high complexity tasks, applying strong business acumen, technical insight, and the ability to build and maintain robust stakeholder relationships.
The ideal candidate brings extensive commercial experience within Defence, combined with a strong technical background across software and communication-based systems including combat controls and special forces system interfaces to drive product outcomes that support capability delivery.
This full-time position is based at Williamtown, near Newcastle.
Perform complex planning and execution to assure delivery of fit-for-purpose project/product outcomes, including the management of scope, schedules, risks, budgets, and resources
Support the Capability Manager in developing and progressing project/product submissions in line with One Defence Capability System requirements (e.g., gates, reviews, committees)
Lead Fundamental Inputs to Capability (FIC) integration and coordination through high-engagement stakeholder management and strong relationship building
Develop, update, and maintain required project/product documentation necessary for governance and compliance (e.g., iPMP)
Conduct project/product reporting using applicable management systems (e.g., PPRIP, SPMS)
Undertake comprehensive Risk, Issue, and Opportunity identification and management activities
Conduct business in accordance with CASG BMS, Project Controls Function policies, procedures, and guidelines
Apply strong commercial capabilities including scoping and preparing new contracts, managing procurement activities, overseeing license upgrades, and ensuring commercial integrity across all project work

This Product Manager role requires both a strong technical focus and demonstrated commercial capability.
Experience in Project or Product Management within Defence, government, aerospace, or other complex technical environments
A technical background across software systems, communication-based systems, combat controls, or special forces-related systems
Strong commercial experience including contract scoping, procurement, licence upgrades, stakeholder management, and business case development
Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build and maintain productive and trusted relationships
Familiarity with Defence project management systems and frameworks (e.g., One Defence Capability System, PPRIP, SPMS) is highly desirable
Strong organisational skills and a commitment to delivering outcomes within scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements
Ability to provide guidance, mentoring, and support to team members
NV2 preferred; minimum NV1 security clearance required (Ability to obtain NV2) (must be an Australian citizen)
Strong business acumen and the ability to operate confidently across technical and commercial domains
