Fire Sprinkler Designer

We are seeking a Fire Sprinkler Designer to join our client's team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing accurate, code-compliant fire sprinkler system layouts and designs. This role involves working closely with project managers and field teams, participating in coordination meetings, and ensuring designs are practical and installable from project kickoff to completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop accurate and code-compliant sprinkler system layouts and designs.
  • Perform hydraulic calculations and understand system demand requirements.
  • Prepare submittal packages, including drawings, calculations, and material data.
  • Participate in BIM coordination meetings and resolve clashes with other trades.
  • Work with project managers, superintendents, and sales personnel to run through project scope.
  • Clean up background CAD files and design sprinkler systems accordingly.
  • Conduct site surveys for existing work and prepare for new construction projects.
  • Create and review fabrication lists for accuracy and efficiency.
  • Identify design issues, discrepancies, and potential change orders.

Required Qualifications

Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in fire sprinkler design. Backgrounds in design engineering, architecture/drafting, or mechanical fields such as plumbing or HVAC are also considered.

Technical Skills: Proficiency with design software such as HydroCAD, AutoSprink, or Revit. A thorough understanding of fire sprinkler system types (Wet, Dry, Preaction, Deluge, Fire pump systems) and knowledge of applicable codes and standards (NFPA 13, 14, 20, 24, 25).

Preferred Qualifications

  • NICET II or III certification.
