A Mechanical Designer with experience as a P&ID Developer is responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs). This role involves illustrating the flow of fluids, control systems, and equipment in industrial processes. The designer will work closely with engineering teams to ensure the safe and efficient operation of complex systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and update P&IDs using industry-standard software, such as AutoCAD, to accurately represent the layout and functionality of piping, equipment, and instrumentation.
- Work closely with mechanical engineers, process engineers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements for P&IDs and ensure they meet design specifications.
- Generate detailed and clear P&ID documentation, including equipment symbols, instrument details, piping layouts, and control loops.
- Ensure that P&IDs comply with safety regulations, industry standards, and project-specific requirements.
- Collaborate with engineers to select appropriate piping materials, valves, instruments, and other components.
- Manage changes to P&IDs by documenting and tracking revisions, and ensuring all stakeholders are informed of updates.
- Review and validate P&IDs for accuracy and completeness, ensuring they are consistent with project goals and safety guidelines.
- Create as-built P&IDs to reflect the actual configuration of systems after construction or modifications.
- Provide training and support to less experienced team members and drafters in P&ID development.
