Apex Systems is a global IT services & consulting provider that has an opening for an Sr. Product Owner to join the Enterprise Digital & AI Enablement Delivery team. The Senior Product Owner will work closely with our Enterprise Digital & AI Enablement Strategy teams, Technology, and SBUs to deliver digital and AI products, services and capabilities. This is a fast paced, changing environment where every day brings something new, and innovative ideas are encouraged. Your contributions will help evolve the customer experience through simplified and intuitive design; putting the customer's needs first by providing the right tools and solutions to facilitate a positive digital and/or AI experience. They will be team-oriented and capable of partnering and leading cross-functional efforts to deliver on complex strategic digital and/or AI transformation and integration activities in order to drive increased profitability and productivity to automate and digitize our bank to help build the bank of the future. Overall, the Product Owner balances the customer need and business needs, while monitoring market trends and keeping a pulse on the competitive landscape.

Target Start Date: ASAP

Duration: 6 months with potential to extend

Potential for this contract to be extended or converted to FTE? Yes to both

Remote/Hybrid: Hybrid role, 1-2 times a week

Office Location: Downtown Toronto, ON

Work Schedule (hours per week, start time): 37.50 Hours/week, 9-5 Monday to Friday

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a prioritized Product Backlog
  • Partner with the program manager to unlock business case funding for the program
  • Deliver on the product roadmap (on time and on budget)
  • Oversee from a business lens all stages of product creation including design, development and implementation
  • Work with the PM to delivery status updates and raise issues and risks
  • Work with Stakeholders to develop a product vision that satisfies their requirements
  • Curates user stories and feedback, prioritizing work on those with maximum value
  • Collaborates with project managers and technical leads to determine product development cycles
  • Manage release plans by monitoring project scope, schedule and budget
  • Communicate business and stakeholder requirements to the development team and ensure their designs align with the product vision
  • Ensure each iteration delivers expected result by working closely with the development team to define, design, accept and adapt features
  • Serve as the internal/external subject matter expert on the product and primary contact for product related questions
  • Demonstrate the product; purpose and realization to engage all parties in Sprint at stages of development
  • Create a positive work environment and be an effective role model by championing the bank's mission, vision and values

Knowledge and Skills

Successful candidates must exhibit the bank's values of trust, teamwork, and accountability:

  • 3-5 years Agile Product Owner or related experience
  • Experience with business side on digital and/or AI projects
  • Strong communication skills with excellent stakeholder influence and relationship-building
  • Knowledge of Canadian banking
  • Expert level of understanding of Agile/Scrum processes, roles, and practices
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational, time management, and project management skills
  • Strong business acumen and ability to pick up complex technical concepts easily
  • Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders and articulate their needs
  • Knowledge of Build Automation and Deployment Automation tools and techniques strongly recommended
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) certification and project management experience considered an asset
