The Apple Pay and Wallet team is seeking a Manager of Product Management with deep expertise in transit and payments to lead a team of talented product managers delivering innovative, user-centric transit experiences. In this role, you'll build and mentor a high-performing team while partnering with engineering, design, and cross-functional leaders across Apple to define the strategic vision and execute on features that allow customers to use their iPhone and Apple Watch to ride transit around the world. You'll be responsible for developing your team's capabilities, driving product strategy, and ensuring successful delivery of complex, multi-faceted initiatives spanning closed-loop transit cards, open-loop payment acceptance, and platform expansion into new cities and regions. You should bring strong leadership skills, strategic thinking, deep analytical abilities, and a proven track record of building and scaling products that delight users while meeting business objectives. This role is ideal for an experienced product leader who excels at people management, thrives in collaborative environments at scale, and is passionate about developing both products and people within a dynamic and fast-evolving space.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead a team of product managers focused on transit experiences for iPhone and Apple Watch
  • Mentor and develop team members, fostering their growth and career progression
  • Recruit world-class product management talent to strengthen the team
  • Create a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence aligned with Apple values
  • Product Strategy & Execution
  • Define and drive the strategic vision for next-generation transit features and platform expansion for users around the world
  • Partner with engineering, design, and cross-functional leaders to establish product roadmaps and prioritize initiatives
  • Ensure your team delivers features that meet Apple's highest standards for quality, privacy, and usability
  • Champion user needs by analyzing rider and partner requirements, defining clear problem statements, and validating solutions
  • Stakeholder Management
  • Collaborate with external partners including transit agencies, city operators, and industry partners to test, validate, and launch new transit experiences
  • Oversee Product Marketing efforts, partnering with Regional Marketing teams on the development of customer communications and campaigns that build awareness and drive user engagement
  • Present to senior leadership on product strategy, progress, and key decisions
  • Build strong relationships across Apple to ensure alignment and support for transit initiatives
  • Ensure features align with Apple's principles of simplicity, user control, and privacy
  • Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Drive alignment across multiple teams including Engineering, Design, Privacy, Legal, Operations, and Business Development
  • Navigate complex tradeoffs balancing rider needs, technical constraints, business goals, and partner requirements
  • Remove blockers and create clarity for your team and cross-functional partners
  • Travel will be required to meet with partners and attend industry events.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or equivalent work experience
  • 7+ years of experience in product management, with a focus on transit, payments, fintech, or platform technologies
  • 3+ years of people management experience, including hiring, developing, and leading product management teams
  • Proven track record defining and launching successful products with large, cross-functional teams
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to engage deeply with engineering teams and make sound technical product decisions
  • Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to influence senior stakeholders and synthesize complex topics for diverse audiences
  • Strategic thinker with strong business acumen and analytical problem-solving skills
  • Highly organized with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep experience in transit, contactless payments, or mobility technology, including product launches at scale
  • Familiarity with industry standards and specifications such as EMVCo, ISO/IEC 14443, or transit interoperability frameworks
  • Strong understanding of closed-loop and open-loop transit systems, payment network infrastructure, and the transit technology ecosystem
  • Experience working with external partners including transit agencies, city governments, or payment networks
  • Knowledge of NFC, contactless, and mobile payment technologies and their application in transit environments
  • Track record of developing high-performing teams and creating inclusive, collaborative team cultures
  • Passion for user experience and deep appreciation for Apple's design and privacy principles
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
  • MBA or advanced degree in a relevant field
  • Proactive, curious, and collaborative leader with a growth mindset

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $208,400 and $313,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
