Principal Tech Product Manager

This position requires office presence of a minimum of five days per week and is only located in the location(s) posted. No relocation is offered.

As a Principal Tech Product Manager your tasks may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • An expert in their field, applying broad business knowledge and strategic insight surrounding emerging trends and GenAI technologies to solve complex problems and drive organizational results.
  • Leads critical, high-impact GenAI programs/projects and helps shape delivery standards and governance practices.
  • Works with minimal oversight, frequently consulting senior leadership and influencing executive decisions. Serves as a mentor and assists others with challenging issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • End-to-End GenAI Program/Project Management: Support and/or lead GenAI initiatives from intake and discovery through development, pilot, production deployment, and post-launch optimization. Ensure deliverables meet defined quality, performance, and adoption targets.
  • Use Case Intake & Value Definition: Partner with business owners, product, data science/ML engineering, architecture, legal/compliance, security, and operations to define GenAI use cases, success metrics (e.g., productivity, cost reduction, customer experience), and benefits tracking. Establish clear problem statements, requirements, and acceptance criteria.
  • Project Planning and Scheduling: Develop and maintain integrated project plans and roadmaps including milestones for data readiness, model selection/build, prompt/workflow design, evaluation, security reviews, user testing, deployment, and enablement. Manage dependencies across data, platform, and application teams.
  • Stakeholder, Vendor, and Platform Coordination: Maintain regular communication with stakeholders and delivery partners to provide status updates, facilitate working sessions, manage expectations, and drive timely decisions. Coordinate with platform teams and external vendors as needed (e.g., LLM providers, tooling, systems integrators).
  • Governance, Risk, and Compliance Management: Identify, document, and manage GenAI-specific risks such as privacy, data handling, IP, security, regulatory constraints, model drift, hallucinations, bias, and misuse. Ensure appropriate reviews and approvals are completed (e.g., security, privacy, legal, model risk/controls) and that controls are incorporated into the delivery plan.
  • Quality Assurance, Evaluation, and Issue Resolution: Establish fit-for-purpose evaluation approaches (e.g., test sets, human-in-the-loop review, red-teaming, prompt regression testing) and ensure GenAI solutions meet reliability, safety, and performance expectations. Proactively identify issues, remove blockers, and drive resolution.
  • Change Management & Adoption: Partner with business, training, and operations teams to support rollout planning, communications, user onboarding, and feedback loops. Track adoption and outcomes; drive continuous improvement of GenAI solutions based on user feedback and performance metrics.
  • Operational Readiness (MLOps/LLMOps) Coordination: Coordinate readiness activities such as monitoring/observability, incident response, runbooks, access controls, logging, cost monitoring, and ongoing model/prompt lifecycle management. Ensure handoff to operations/support is complete.
  • Reporting and Executive Readouts: Produce program status reports, RAID logs, KPI dashboards, and executive-level updates. Provide clear recommendations and decision points to leadership.
  • Other duties as assigned: Supporting processes related to resource management, data analysis, reporting, and/or team collaboration in support of GenAI initiatives.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) desired.

Experience:

  • 7+ years of related experience in program/project management,
  • Demonstrated experience delivering data/AI, analytics, automation,
  • GenAI-adjacent initiatives. Certification is required in some areas (e.g., PMP, Scrum, SAFe).
  • GenAI or ML/AI delivery experience preferred.

Our Principal Tech Product Manager earns between $158,200 - $237,400 USD Annual. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
