Director, Product Development - Sticks & Bags

The director, product development will lead the team responsible for the development of sticks and bags. This role is tasked with driving innovation, managing cross-functional collaboration, and ensuring that the research and development (R&D) function delivers strategic value to Bauer Hockey.

Essential job functions and responsibilities include:

  • Supervise the complete product development lifecycle for the stick and bag categories—from concept to final packaging.
  • Define, schedule, and coordinate projects aligned with the 4-year innovation roadmap.
  • Build and leverage an innovative ecosystem with research institutions, raw material suppliers, and manufacturing partners.
  • Manage the operating and capital expenditure budgets for the category.
  • Collaborate with brand management to ensure product lines meet market needs and consumer expectations.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and external vendors to implement sourcing strategies.
  • Establish and refine product performance criteria in collaboration with engineering and design teams.
  • Make strategic decisions and recommendations across all aspects of product engineering.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally at least 25% of the time.

Qualifications include:

  • BS or BA in Engineering or related field—or equivalent years of relevant and related experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience, including office-based work.
  • At least 5 years of experience leading teams in an R&D environment.
  • Strong understanding of design, engineering, and manufacturing processes for composite sporting goods.
  • Well-established network in the composites industry (research centers, suppliers, factories, etc.).
  • Proven experience managing complex product development projects.
  • Excellent communication skills in both French and English (written and verbal).
  • Ability to manage multiple high-impact projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as Creo or SolidWorks is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and disciplines.
  • Background in sporting goods industry is a strong asset.
  • Travel as needed and/or required by essential job functions.
