E-7 Product Support Lead

Boeing Defence United Kingdom (BDUK) is looking for a seasoned Lead Product Support Engineer to provide technical leadership and support for the UK E-7 programme, encompassing both sustainment and mobilisation efforts.

BDUK, a Boeing subsidiary, employs over 1,400 professionals across the UK, delivering a diverse portfolio of defence contracts. These include advanced platforms such as the E-7 AEW&C, P-8A Maritime Patrol Aircraft, Autonomous Systems, C4ISR Services, and support for Chinook and Apache helicopter fleets, alongside Logistic Information and Training Services. We are currently expanding our team.

The BDUK engineering function operates within a matrix structure, providing technical expertise across multiple programmes. This role is part of the Product Support Engineering Department, which focuses on:

Embedded within the BDUK Product Services Team, you will lead Product Support Engineering activities for the UK E-7 AEW&C programme, supporting both sustainment and mobilisation phases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation, review, and evaluation of Product Support Support Engineering documentation for the E-7 programme.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of Product Support Engineering capabilities to support sustainment and mobilisation.
  • Define requirements for Data Analytics services that enhance support solutions.
  • Assess and manage change requests from continuous improvement initiatives, including maintenance feedback, failure investigations, and reliability analyses.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations and performance metrics for programme and customer meetings.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Supply Chain, Training, Programme Management, and Security teams to ensure alignment with broader BDUK objectives.
  • Provide leadership in progress reporting, including KPIs and project close-out documentation.
  • Support management of the Support Engineering resource budget within the E-7 programme.
  • Identify risks, issues, and opportunities early, leading mitigation and development plans as necessary.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers within the Product Support Engineering team.
  • Report to the BDUK Product Support Fixed Wing Engineering Manager and coordinate with other capability specialists.

Required Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:

  • Ability to obtain UK SC security clearance
  • Strong knowledge of Support Engineering within a military context.
  • Familiarity with risk and reliability management systems and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of international support standards such as Def Stan 00-600 and ASD/AIA Suite of S Series ILS Specifications is desirable.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality outcomes on first submission.

Preferred Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:

  • Experience with the E-7 programme or similar fixed-wing military aircraft is highly advantageous.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in Product Support Engineering roles.
  • Ideally holds a degree in a relevant Engineering discipline or formal training in Support Engineering principles.
