Senior Ground Support Equipment Tool Designer

Spectrolab, Inc. Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS), Space, Intelligence and Weapon Systems (SI&WS) is looking for a Senior Ground Support Equipment Tool Designer (Level 4) to join our Tooling team in Sylmar, California.

As a GSE (Ground Support Equipment) Tool Designer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing moderate to complex equipment and tooling concepts to meet the stringent requirements of aerospace product design and manufacturing. You will actively participate in design reviews, gather design requirements, create and refine drawings and models, and explore the integration of robotics, automation, and cutting-edge technologies to enhance the build process. Your role will involve creating documentation, specifications, and instructions for the procurement, utilization, maintenance, and inspection of equipment and tooling. Additionally, you will provide technical support for engineering changes and discrepancies, ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Investigate and develop equipment and tooling concepts and specifications to support manufacturing needs.
  • Participate in design reviews, gather design requirements, and create detailed drawings and models.
  • Research and explore the application of robotics, automation, and emerging technologies to enhance manufacturing processes.
  • Develop off-load packages, specifications, purchase requests, and usage instructions for equipment and tooling.
  • Ensure designs comply with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and document inspection procedures, preventative maintenance plans, and user training materials for equipment and tooling.
  • Provide technical support for engineering changes and discrepancies by investigating problems and analyzing data to identify solutions.
  • Assess and make recommendations for the disposition of equipment and tooling.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with AutoCAD, Inventor, and SolidWorks

Pay and Benefits:

Summary pay range: $118,150 - $159,850
